Suzuki Alto 2019 Front

The all-new, brand-new, locally manufactured Suzuki Alto 2019 is trending high on searches. The Japanese Kei car Alto was first introduced in 1979 as a commercial use variant of Fronte passenger car by Suzuki Motor Corporation.

While people are still hesitant to say goodbye to Mehran – one of the bestselling, low-end Suzuki cars that boasts a long and prestigious history spanning over 30 years in the country – Pak Suzuki brings in the all-new 660cc Alto in 2019.

The Alto, with its elite looks, comes as a replacement of Mehran, which was officially discontinued in April 2019.

Alto vs Mehran – What’s the Difference?

Purported to be a replacement of Mehran, Alto is expected to give something better to the Suzuki fans who might be disappointed over the discontinuation of the 800cc iconic hatchback, which has been in the game for about 30 years.

Let’s have a look at what’s the difference between the two.

Suzuki Alto 2019 Exterior

Power & Fuel Efficiency:

While Mehran was an 800cc vehicle, the Alto is a 660cc car. The small gap in piston displacement does not make a big difference in terms of overall power and performance. However, it does make a big difference when it comes to the fuel economy.

The 660cc segment has recently captured greater attention of the buyers as the fuel prices are rising globally. In other words, the Alto is expected to offer a significantly better fuel efficiency than its departing sibling.

Luxury, Power, and Safety:

With a set of additional tech specs, Alto will fare much better in terms of comfort, convenience, and luxury. For example, it carries the specs like an auto gear shift, power mirrors, power windows, power steering, and dual SRS airbags (for driver and passenger) not found in Mehran.

Other new additions include the keyless entry system, central locking system, touchscreen, high-end security system, and anti-lock braking system (ABS).

Body Dynamics:

Measuring low on displacement, the all-new Alto performs better on dynamics. It has got a bold, muscular stature as compared with its outgoing sibling. The stylish curves and curvatures on the body further beautify and add to its grace.

Alto’s Competitors:

While the auto industry gurus are predicting bright prospects for the recently launched, locally manufactured Alto, the car opened its eyes in the new market with staunch rivals ready to pounce on it.

The direct rivals of Alto include:

  • Daihatsu Cuore
  • Daihatsu Move
  • Honda N One
  • Suzuki Wagon R
  • Daihatsu Mira ES
  • Suzuki Every Wagon
  • Honda N Box
  • Daihatsu Copen
  • Honda Life
  • Toyota Pixis, etc

As you can see in the above list, four of the Alto rivals are from Daihatsu alone which is a sub-brand of Toyota Motors Japan. The N One, N Box, and Life from Honda may also give it a tough time for survival and success on the market. Meanwhile, Suzuki’s other brands like Every Wagon and Wagon R also eying the smart beauty for dominance.
